Edward wrinkled his nose as he held up the dirty dress. The mud Trisha had managed to get on it was unbelievable. He wondered if it had been her brother who had put her up to it. He sighed. Now, what were you supposed to do with dirty clothes? He wished Winry was here but she had trotted off to Rush Valley to perform a maintenance for one of her stellar customers. And here he was for one of the first times alone with the kids. Not that he minded, he loved his kids quite dearly.

What had Winry done the last time the kids had gotten their clothes dirty? What was it…? He pawed through the containers on the self above the new -fangled machine that washed clothes for you. Winry loved it – loved it, loved it, loved it. The main reason was because it was a machine and the second because she trusted it. (she had taken it apart and put it back together again better than before)

As Ed scanned the labels the word BLEACH STAIN REMOVER caught his eye. He grinned. That’s what Winry had used to wash the kids clothes. He dumped the dress into the wash and poured a liberal amount of bleach into the washer as well. He figured the dirtier something was, the more you needed of the bleach.

Later the next day his wife confronted him, hands on her hips and a glare on her face. “Why?” she asked through gritted teeth.

“Why what?” Ed asked.

Winry answered by holding up the dress he’d put in the wash yesterday. The formerly black dress now resembled a Dalmatian.

Ed swallowed.
